Is Fromm cat food good for cats? I’ve been feeding them this for about eight months now and hardly any digestive problems now. Just wondering how it rates
Hi David,
Great question! Check out our Fromm Cat Food Review. This should help you get a better sense of how Fromm cat food rates.
Pet Smart does not carry American Journey Dry Cat Food in their physical store. It does carry that brand in dog food.
Why is that?
Hi Celeste! Interesting question. While I can’t answer for your store specifically, I’ve been told by a PetSmart associate that American Journey dry cat food is available in larger PetSmart stores, but smaller stores will likely not carry it. It’s not a complete explanation, but I hope this clears things up a bit. Thanks for stopping by!
About
My cat developed Gastro intestinal problems gradually and slowly after introducing this food.
I haven’t seen any reviews or recalls, but I do have serious concerns about this. My cat is 20 yrs old, so I thought it was maybe his kidneys or something else. After 4 months on this food, noticed extreme weight loss and decreased appetite. I thought age was finally catching up with him.
Two weeks ago, did blood analysis and radiographs on my cat, his lab results were great for his age, except for some anemia. Radiographs did not show major problems, and a lot of gas on the intestines. Stoped the food immediately and there has been little improvement since then on him.
I’m aware it may be some other problem not related to this food, but I’m very suspicious and would like the company and you Chewy to do some research with other consumers see if any problems with pets that are eating this food brand.
If any one else has noticed good or bad results with this food, please let me know.
From a very concerned cat owner,
Luis T
Hi Luis,
Thanks for sharing your concerns. I’m not sure which brand or recipe you’re referring to, but regardless, I’d recommend passing along your experience to both the company and the FDA.
If you’d like to specify the name of the food you suspect may have contributed to your cat’s health issues, others can learn about your experience and chime in. We’d also like to do some further research to learn more about the company’s history and if other people have experienced similar issues.
Wishing you and your cat the best,
Mallory
It looks like Luis was referring to Stella and Chewy. I’m interested in your thoughts about this brand too. I’ve seen good and some not-good reviews for this brand. I am specifically interested in their raw, freeze dried line. Thank you very much.
Hi Nancy, you can learn more about Stella & Chewy here: https://cats.com/stella-chewys-cat-food-review
Happened to me with my cat. He was doing fine about bathroom stuff, but since the vet recommended this brand, he’s got diarrea, lot of gases, he seems uncomfortable..maybe Royal Canin must do a better investigation about this.
Very good rating

Question: your review of Stella and Cheweys freeze dried food gas left me wondering: the text of the review states the main ingredients are rabbit, but the ingredient list includes NO rabbit.
Please advise?
Thank you.
Thank you for bringing that up! I’m not sure what went wrong there. We’ll correct the article as soon as possible.

Hello Cathy, you should be able to return and get a refund on the unused product from the retailer. I’d also recommend contacting Sheba and telling them about your experience. https://www.sheba.com/contact-us

Cathy, thank you so much for sharing your experience with All About Cats and all of the other cat guardians who read this article. In addition to publicizing this event here, I’d recommend contacting both Sheba and the FDA. Additionally, you should be able to return the food to your retailer for a complete refund.

I have three 6-month-old cats can I feed them two cans ?,one in the morning kibble in the afternoon and one can at dinner? Or is that too much?
Natalie, it really depends on the food you’ve chosen. Use this calorie needs calculator to determine how much your kitties need, then compare those requirements to the number of calories you’re giving them with their two cans of food and kibble.
I have an older female cat. She’s 9 years now and recently had a few crystals in her urine but are gone now. It was recommended that she start a diet of urinary tract formula foods. My concern is that I have another cat. I recused her and she is a dwarf. My vet says that this food won’t hurt her since, as everyone knows, it’s hard to separate cats while eating because they pick here and there. Their food is always measured accordingly. Do I have to keep them on this food forever even though she’s been absent of crystals and only had a few once?
Hi Donna, thank you for stopping by. That’s a great question, but the answer really depends on your cat’s unique situation. You might appreciate our article on the best cat food for urinary tract health: https://cats.com/best-cat-food-urinary-tract-health Also, if you choose to keep your 9-year-old on the prescription diet, a microchip feeder can help to keep your two cats’ food separate. Hope this helps!
You should consult with your vet. I am a vet tech and have a male cat who had urinary crystals. I keep him on prescription urinary food bc it is not worth the risk of me taking him off of it. Urinary food is formulated to change the ph of the urine to deter crystal formation. Crystals can cause a blockage in the urethra making it difficult or impossible to pass urine. If a cat is unable to pass urine due to crystals or stone, the bladder will expand and eventually burst which could result in death. Straining to urinate is a big deal and needs to be caught in time and treated as an emergency. That is why I just choose to do whatever I can to avoid this situation.
Hiya, just a request for a review on the litter from litterbox.com. I’ve used it for awhile and like it, but I always like to see the expert opinions and your reviews seem well done. I’m not affiliated in any way, just a request. Love your site!
Hi. Would you be able to kindly review Seriously Good Bistro food? My cat was on Katkin but after she saw me ordered bulk quantity she decided she was having none of it. Tried many products and she would only eat this. Worried if food quality isn’t as good as Katkin, so really need help here. Thank you!
Hello. Thank you for the great site with lots of good information. My cat has been on Royal Canine Gastrointestinal dry and wet food for the last four months due to chronic vomiting and hair ball issues. No other health issues from the veterinary tests that have been done. Initially we suspected IBS but she has been doing pretty good for last month. I am anxious to get her off the vet food and on to something of better quality for for sensitive stomach. I see there are lots of options. What is your best suggestion for good food to transition to? Thanks so much!
Hello Krystal, thank you for the comment. We have a whole vet-reviewed article on this subject: Best Cat Food for IBD (all of them are appropriate for IBS as well!)

Hello Claudette, you can learn about this in our article on the best cat food for weight loss.
My cat Leroy, a male, 7 yrs. old, inside, neutered, the only inside animal, I have no children and live alone. It is very quiet in my house. My cat eats wet fancy feast petites & Purina Senior Indoor cat food along with some treats and grass. A week ago, he had a urinary tract infection. My vet did x-rays and there were no blockages. He did a urine test and found out there was bacteria in his urine (no crystals) and sent him home with orbax susp & Buprenorphine. Here’s my question: Since all of this Leroy stopped using the litter box. I researched it. I bought a new low large litter box and a litter attractant. I always clean the litter box out all the time. It is always clean. I use a non-clump cat litter Dr Elsies and kept the box in the same location. Now Leroy will go pee in the litter box but goes all through the house to have a BM. I even put some of his BM in the litter box hoping it would attract him to it. This did not work. I realize he may have had pain in the litter box when he had the infection, but it has been 1 week, and he still will not have a BM in the litter box. Have you ever heard of anything like this? Do you know what I can do to get him to use the litter box again?
Hello Anita, thank you for the comment, and I’m sorry it’s taken me some time to get back to you! This is a puzzling situation, and it sounds like you’re doing everything right so far. Is your cat showing any signs of constipation or something else that may be causing him pain in the litter box? You may need to go back to the vet to figure out if there is some other issue at play. Not pooping in the litter box is often, as you’ve identified, a stress response, so despite the great care you’re taking of him, I wouldn’t entirely rule that out as a possibility. Wishing you and your cat all the best!
My cat Chief gets UTI It almost killed him when he was seven. Penny got another one in December and other one in January. But it wasn’t. UTI has a bladder disease but he’s on meds now and he’s fine but he was peeing all over the house because he had a hard time. Peeing and you were with the litter box and then I’m in the backyard because he’s an inside cat but they he has z will go outside in the backyard with just me and then come right back in. It was terrible. And I don’t know why but he will be in the box but he will only go outside the box unless he is the only one doing in the box. And there’s nothing else in the box ever since he had his first UTI. Just saying they’re weird after UTI but it sounds like your cat has something totally different going on than UTI
Thanks for sharing, Kathleen. Cats can certainly be weird sometimes!

Is the dry meow mix cat food and the Sheba wet food being recalled
Hi Ethel! No, neither of these foods were recently recalled.
Would it be possible to check the whole list of your affiliate programs?
Hi Donny,
Yes we’re working on it
Can you review deworming products for cats from Budget Pet Supplies?
https://www.budgetpetsupplies.co.za/cats/t2.aspx
My 3 13 year old indoor cats have stopped eating Hills adult dry cat food. They have been eating it mixed with oral care and Purina one hairball for years. They will eat Purina one by itself and 2/3 will eat the oral care, but they will not touch the Hill’s adult food. Has the formula changed in the last couple of months?
It’s possible, formula changes happen from time to time. It’s also possible that your cat’s tastes have changed. Have you tried offering your cats wet food? If they’ve gotten bored with Hill’s dry food they might find the texture of wet food appealing.
I have been thinking switching to natural cat litter. Can you possibly do a comparison or top 10 natural cat litter list? I feel there are a lot of options now in the market for natural but your top 10/12 cat litter recommendations dont quiet represent a fair share of natural cat litters. Also between the Naturally fresh multi cat clumping and Catit Go natural Pea husk which one you would reccomend?
Hi Taz, we actually have a short list of natural litter recommendations here: https://cats.com/best-natural-cat-litter
As for Naturally Fresh vs Catit Go, my cats prefer Catit. The Naturally Fresh works well but I think the walnut material is a little too sharp for their liking. Catit’s pea husk litter comes in very small, lightweight pellets that are soft under the feet. I’ve also found that it clumps pretty well, it just takes a little longer to dry out and harden the clumps than clay litter.
Thank you for your response. I have 3 cats, do you think the catit go pea husk would be a good option then for a multi-cat home? And is there a difference between the vanilla and lavender? Appreciate the help Kate.
I don’t see why it shouldn’t work in a multi-cat home–it does fine with my three cats. I think the only difference between the vanilla and lavender is the scent, so it would come down to which scent you prefer. They’re both pretty light, not overwhelming.
I received 2 ($19) charges on my creditcard without my permission from ShipmentFree.com 3AR Los Angeles, CA, after visiting your site. Will you please explain?
Hi Vicki, we don’t collect credit card information for any reason. Maybe try asking your credit card company for more details about what the charge was for?
I my.self well plus all of the cats I have had join my family,we seem to alway have stayed with the safe and reliable Littermate Multi Cat Electric Litter box I myself though didn’t get catght up ever feeling as though I have to run to the store often to buy Recepticals it calls for the soiled mess to be raked into 10 minutes after your cat leaves the litter box. The reasoning for this is because I recycle the plastic grocery bags. I do this for my one cat yawing the one Multi cat box every other day or possibly three by just sweeping all around it and replacing the bag nor does the Receptacle need replacing,it’s great!
My kitten has pooped and peed at least once because I’ve found it in my clothes before.I don’t know what to do.
Hi Katie, I’d love to help you out but I’m not quite sure what issue you’re experiencing. Can you clarify for me?
