Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has tried or has thoughts on the cat grass sticks that are in ads on Instagram. They seem like they would be great for my cat who is a chronic vomiter and has hairballs.
Thais for your help!
Hi @ANDERRAH LI
We have not tried out these type of cat grass sticks yet, in general they might be worth a try and see how your cat reacts to eat. I have one cat that always eats some natural plant at home which helps her clean her stomach after she injects back out. i don't think the cat grass sticks will stimulate the same response though.
Hi Anderrah! Jumping in here with some of my thoughts. I haven't tried these sticks specifically but have tried fresh cat grass and silvervine sticks. One of my cats absolutely loves to chomp on fresh grass but neither of them showed any interest in the dried silvervine sticks. I think it'll just depend on the cat's individual preferences. Some cats are chewers and some aren't, so you might not know until you try.
That said, there are other things you could try if your cat is struggling with vomiting and hairballs.
First and foremost, is your cat vomiting digested food or regurgitating undigested food shortly after eating? It's worth making the distinction and talking to your vet to rule out any underlying health conditions. If there's no health issue at play, some minor dietary changes could make a difference. Increasing the moisture content of your cat's diet may help improve digestion, so consider adding some wet food if your cat is dry food-only or even add some warm water or broth to their kibble.
It might also be worth growing some fresh cat grass. You can find it at most pet stores up by the register or you can order a seed kit and grow it at home. I've tried Pet Greens and really liked it. Here's my review of it: https://cats.com/pet-greens-cat-treats-review
