Hello, I started feeding my cats home cooked meats (chicken, beef, fish and sometimes turkey and pork). I love how small portions go a long way - my cats finally stopped begging for food constantly and they do get full. However, although I bake all these items and give cats the broth/juice where the meats were cooked, I feel I need to ensure they get all vitamins and amino acids they should get. I was wondering if there is a nutritionist I can book a consult with or may be someone can recomment some good multi-vitamis for cats? I am not sure I can do the mixing of different brands/vitamins myself while prepping the food.
thank you!
Are you doing this for you or for your cat? You'd better do your homework fast or you'll endanger your cat's health. There are good human-grade cat foods available that provide all the meat and nutrients they need.
@mitchellregenbogen homework is exactly what I'm doing. These kind of remarks are not helpful. If you don't have any advice, please don't post.
I don't need direction from you. Actually I thought my comment "There are good human-grade cat foods available that provide all the meat and nutrients they need" could have been helpful. But you've already decided what you are going to do to your cat, so good luck.
Hi Yuliya,
Thanks for your question.
Homemade diets can be tricky as it's important to make sure that they're nutritionally balanced. I'd recommend to start with reading our article on making cat food here;
Making Cat Food: Homemade And Raw Cat Food Diets Explained - Cats.com
It goes through what ingredients you need plus vitamins and minerals that are needed to make the food complete. Taurine is particularly important for cats. It also contains some links to premixes which could be an option for you.
