About Cosma
Cosma cat foods is one of the many brands made by Matina GMBH, a German pet food manufacturer based in Munich. The company makes foods, snacks, and other products for dogs, cats, and a variety of pets. All of their recipes are free from soya, sugar, artificial colorings, flavorings, and preservatives.
Some of Matina’s other cat food brands include: Catessy, Concept for Life, Concept for Life Veterinary Diet, Feringa, Greenwoods, My Star, Purizon, Rosie’s Farm, Smilla, Tigeria, Tigerino, Wild Freedom, Zooplus Bio, and Zoolove.

We didn’t find any recalls for Cosma cat foods but it can be difficult to discover recalls in various European countries. We did find an online thread from 2014 about an apparent bad batch of Cosma Thai cat food tins. The retailer eventually addressed the problem. However, once you look for the Cosma products, the site will direct you to Zooplus.co.uk in Britain. Got all that?
At any rate, once you are on the Zooplus site, there is a wide range of Cosma cat food products. Cosma Original in Jelly is available in Pacific Tuna, Skipjack Tuna, Chicken Breast, and Salmon. This is considered to be a premium food made mostly of meat or fish from a single protein source. Cosma states that it is appropriate nutrition for cats. Cosma Asia recipes are similar to Cosma Original foods but there are some differences. The primary difference is that Cosma Asia cat foods use two or more protein sources while Cosma Original foods feature a single protein source. Both kinds of food are made from fresh meat or fish. Both foods use rice. And both foods avoid using artificial flavors, preservatives, or colors. And, both kinds of food are supplementary foods.
There are some online discussion sites which suggest that Cosma Asia foods – or some of them – are complete recipes. According to the manufacturer and Zooplus, which sells the food in the UK, Cosma Asia foods are supplementary.

#3 Cosma Nature Salmon for Cats Review
Many Cosma cat food products come in both tins and pouches. The larger sizes may only be available in tins. There are often recipes available in the larger size cans that are not available in the small pouches. If your cat is very picky and you are looking for something different, try looking at some of the larger cans.
We found a much wider assortment of recipes for Cosma Nature in cans that are 280 grams on Zooplus.
The Cosma Nature recipes are also supplementary foods. They have 75 percent meat content that is said to be easy to digest and species-appropriate. The ingredients are cooked in their own juices. They contain no artificial preservatives, flavorings, or colors.
The recipes are very high in meat and/or fish content and have very few other ingredients. These could be good foods for a cat with a food allergy or sensitivity, provided he is not bothered by the protein used in the recipe.
With Cosma Nature Salmon for Cats, the food contains 75 percent salmon, 1 percent rice, and 24 percent fish stock. As long as your cat is not allergic or sensitive to fish, this would be a good supplemental food.

When I opened a tin I could see whole anchovies and tuna chunks, I never thought the product would be so natural and wholesome. I ordered it because there were no additives and no added salt. I used to buy tinned tuna but it often contains a lot of salt and I’ve heard it can even have microplastics. How Much Does Cosma Cat Food Cost?
Cosma cat foods are packaged in a variety of forms. On Zooplus.co.uk we found Cosma Original in Jelly sold as 6 tins (86 grams each) for £4.79. You can buy 24 tins (85 grams each) in a saver pack for £17.79.
You can buy the same food in 6 single portion pouches of 100 grams each for £5.99. A saver pack of 24 100 gram pouches sells for about £21.29. It’s slightly higher for the salmon. There are also larger cans available.
Overall, Is Cosma Cat Food a Good Choice?
It does seem like Cosma cat foods are good products. We wish we knew more about their ingredients and where the food is manufactured. Why is there so much secrecy about these things? EU regulations are quite high so we can suppose the food meets these regulations but it would be reassuring to know more about the food.
Cosma cat foods are supplemental foods so some people may not understand that they cannot feed their cat these foods alone, even if they are very good quality foods.
